Collecting a deposit from a buyer
This guide will walk you through collecting a deposit from a buyer.
Before You Begin
To enable the deposit collection feature for a property, you must first:
- Mark the property's status as sold by entering the result.
- Assign the winning bidder to the sale.
- Ensure your office's trust account is fully set up.
Once these steps are complete, the Deposits tab will become active for the campaign.
Collecting a Deposit - In Person
When you are with your client, you can use Realtair to facilitate collecting their deposit in person. Follow these steps:

Access the Deposit Tab:
- Click the Collect Deposit button. This can also be done from your Contract of Sale.

Configure Deposit Amount:
- A pop-up will appear. Confirm or edit the deposit amount by clicking the pencil icon.

Choose Payment Method:
- Confirm the details, select Pay in Person, and click Continue. Pass the device to the purchaser, then click Proceed to go to the payment page.

Select Payment Method and Continue:
- Choose between Direct Debit or Bank Transfer:
Direct Debit:
- Verify mobile number with a 6-digit code sent via SMS.
- Enter account details (Account Name, BSB, Account Number, and Amount).
- You can add up to 5 bank accounts; ensure the total allocation equals the deposit amount.
Steps:
- Accept terms and click Continue.
- Confirm the information and select Pay Now.
- Click Okay to close the page.
- Verify the transaction in the Deposits transactions section. If issues arise, contact support@realtair.com.
Bank Transfer:
- Provide your client with generated account details (BSB, Account Number, Account Name).
- They must complete a bank transfer. Once funds are reconciled, the transaction will automatically appear in the Deposit Transactions section.
Collecting a Deposit - Remotely
If you are not with the client, you can send payment instructions via email and SMS for them to choose between Direct Debit or Bank Transfer. Here’s how:

Access the Deposit Tab:
- Click the Collect Deposit button, also available from your Contract of Sale.

Configure Deposit Amount:
- A pop-up appears where you can confirm and adjust the deposit amount.

Select Remote Payment:
- Choose Pay Remotely and click Continue. Select the purchaser from the list and click Continue.

Confirmation and Notification:
- Instructions will be emailed and texted to the purchaser. A message will confirm that the remote payment link has been sent, with the deposit amount specified. This process will display in the Deposits dashboard once initiated.
Checking the Transaction Status
After the purchaser completes the payment, you can confirm that it is being processed by checking the Deposit Transactions section on your Deposits tab. The new transaction will appear with a Pending status.
